The Medical Investigation Continues

Patient 26-519's death does not mean the medical investigation has ended.

A necropsy (the animal equivalent of an autopsy) allows veterinary pathologists to investigate diseases at a much deeper level than is possible in a living animal.

Entire organs can be examined, tissues can be studied microscopically, and samples can undergo specialized laboratory testing. These findings can then be considered alongside the bloodwork, imaging and other diagnostic information collected during Patient 26-519's hospitalization.

That process takes time. Some testing may require days or weeks, and one finding can lead to additional investigation.

Our goal is not to reach the fastest conclusion. It is to allow the specialists involved to develop the most complete and scientifically supported understanding possible of what happened to Patient 26-519.
