August 1–2 Watching the Trend

Patient 26-519 remained under close observation.

At this stage, the veterinary team was not evaluating a single number in isolation. Her PCV trend, appetite, weight, hydration, breathing, behavior and overall response to treatment all contributed to decisions about what should happen next.

The improvement seen during the previous week was encouraging, but her red blood cell level remained well below normal and the cause of the anemia had still not been identified.
