July 19 Stabilization and Observation

During the first full day following admission, the focus remained on stabilization and close observation.

For critically ill wildlife patients, the period immediately following admission can provide important information. The rehabilitation and veterinary teams monitor breathing, alertness, posture, appetite, hydration, droppings and response to initial treatment while minimizing unnecessary handling.

Patient 26-519 remained under close observation while preparations were made for a more comprehensive veterinary examination and diagnostic workup.
