GAVIN THE PEREGRINE FALCON
Gavin is one of our resident Peregrine Falcons. Gavin came to ORC from Solvang in 2013 as a first year bird with a broken wing that could not be fixed, he would not be able to survive in the wild without the use of his wing so he is now an education ambassador.
Peregrine Falcons are the fastest specie on the planet, logging speeds of over 200 miles per hour when they dive in what is known as a "stoop" when they are hunting birds from high up in the air. Peregrines like to hunt and nest at high altitudes. They routinely make their nests on high cliffs or on the ledges of tall city buildings.
