We have been receiving reports of sick and injured wildlife. Some are just sightings- two particularly sad calls today about a bear and a coyote. We want to assure everyone that we will be doing the best we can for these animals. We have not been in a situation where there is a mass of wildlife that has been burnt or is suffering from smoke intoxication. We will be working with Ventura County Animal Control and other local agencies to try and get these larger mammals care.
We have also received our first raptor patient, a Barn Owl that is suffering from smoke inhalation and possible head trauma. It's hard to see in the photos but its feathers are covered in soot.
