ORC Concert/Auction Fundraiser a big success!

Peacehaven Ranch in Upper Ojai was the site of a benefit concert and auction for the Ojai Raptor Center on Oct. 22, 2005.
Rain Perry, Julie Christiansen and Perla Batalla provided live music for the event which featured both a silent auction and a live auction with over 70 items available for bidding. Judge Joe Brown was the guest speaker and incredible gourmet hors d'oeuvres were prepared by Chef's David Stroud and Michael Hutchings.
During the afternoon event some of ORC's Resident Raptors were brought out by ORC volunteer handlers to mingle with attendees. This was a unique chance to enjoy a very close encounter with several raptors, including Juneau a Bald Eagle, Luna a Great Horned Owl, Tito a Barn Owl, and Storm a Black-shouldered Kite.
We are already planning the next event, and will keep you posted via our website. Thanks to all the people that helped put it on!

Now that Winter has arrived, baby season is over (thank goodness!), but always seems to loom right around the corner again. Now is our time to repair, paint, organize paperwork and get ready for spring.
Currently, we have two Golden Eagles in for rehabilitation, several injured hawks and owls, and a rarely seen Richardson's Merlin.

Volunteer Training Meeting Feb. 4, 2006
|

A training session for ORC volunteers is scheduled for Saturday Feb 4, 2006 from 1:00 to 4:00 PM at Patagonia, 259 W. Santa Clara Street in Ventura. map & directions
It will be a twofold class - Steatitus in Herons followed by a Transport and Handling class for new volunteers for next season.
RSVP is requested. Please call Kim at 798-3600 if you can attend.

As the Holidays approach we would like to wish everyone a Happy Holiday Season. We would also like to express our heartfelt gratitude to everyone whose kind donations and many other kinds of support are so generously given to help us continue caring for raptors. Also, a BIG Thanks to all the Veterinarians, Pet Emergency Hospitals, The Humane Society, Animal Regulation, and Volunteers that give their time and expertise to help OUR wildlife survive.

Why donate to ORC? Because the birds belong to you! Our intake this year is over 670 birds. Half of those being 19 different species of raptors. These birds require very large aviaries, a varied food source, and time to heal from their injuries, or grow up if they are orphaned babies.
